Partnerships

Outward looking and committed to both providing broader opportunities for our own students as well as honouring our role as a community citizen, the Hoskins Centre has formal partnerships with a number of organisations from local to national level.

Armidale Drama and Musical Society – ADMS

ADMS Logo

It has been just over 5 years since the formation of the amalgamated Society. The combining of the old Armidale Playhouse and the Musical Society has enabled members to concentrate their efforts to provide a varied program of high quality amateur theatre for the people of Armidale. The ADMS endeavours to present at least 3 or 4 shows a year. At least one of these shows is always a Musical. Our recent efforts include the stirring Australian Musical “The Hatpin” and Mel Brook’s “The Producers” and “The Wedding Singer”. We also try to provide 2 or 3 plays a year as well. Comedy is always popular and our recent endeavours reflect this. With Neil Simon’s “California Suite” and Noel Coward’s “Blithe Spirit”. You can follow our activities via our website. The ADMS is a vibrant and dynamic organisation we welcome anyone who is interested to contact us at the above website.

Opera New England – ONE

Opera New England LogoOpera New England (ONE) is a not-for-profit incorporated association whose principal objective is to promote and produce opera in the New England Region. Members of association include experienced well known and respected local and national identities with a passion for bringing high quality performing arts to our region. The Armidale and the New England Region is fortunate to benefit from the enterprise of a number of individuals with passion to bring opera ‘to the sticks’. ONE sees a tremendous opportunity to offer high quality and completely live opera productions to audiences in regional NSW supported by our outstanding local musicians. Armidale theatre under the direction of national identity George Torbay and Bruce Menzies has staged performances to rival professional capital city productions including Titanic – The Musical, Blood Brothers – The Play and the critically acclaimed production of The Hatpin.

A unique and exciting feature of ONE is the involvement of current singers or recent graduates from conservatoriums or universities.  This offers a unique opportunity to develop and showcase their talent whilst also providing exposure of quality productions to the local regional community. Productions are under the creative direction of George Torbay and conducted by  Bruce Menzies. ONE’s previous production are Mozart’s The Marriage of Figaro and Puccini’s La Boheme.
